Traveling With CBD- The Do’s and Don’ts of Flying With CBD

Traveling With CBD

We’re going to take a look at traveling with CBD in this blog! Now that the pandemic is coming to an end, odds are all you can think about now is- travel. Luxurious travel destinations you have racked up on your wishlist from months of being cooped indoors. You could also just want to travel to your hometown and see relatives that you haven’t in a while.

But flight anxiety is a real thing for some. It starts to set in and next thing you know you are rescheduling and rescheduling till slowly nerves are all you have, and your plans end as just – plans.

Well, this is where CBD comes in! Thanks to a recent update passed by the Transportation Security Administration, certain CBD products have been given all clear to be taken on the plane. But what is CBD and why is it so vital for your travel?

What is CBD?

Short for cannabidiol, CBD is an active ingredient in marijuana and hemp plants. It is the second most prevalent compound available in those plants second to THC. THC is the psychoactive compound responsible for inducing a high. CBD users use CBD to alleviate a vast majority of issues. CBD can be used via a vast majority of methods including taking it topically or taking it orally. An example of taking it orally is by using CBD gummies or CBD oil and topical examples include CBD roll-on. Gummies could be taken before or during the flight. Also/or, you could choose to use the roll-on after the flight to alleviate the sores / aches from the flight.

Can you take CBD on a flight?

Before you go ahead to take CBD, it is important to remember that the product’s legality changes. Legality is based on the location you are in currently and the location you are trying to get to. Within the United States, CBD has been legal at the federal level since 2018 and most states will allow possession of hemp-based CBD. This is because CBD derived from hemp, in order to be federally legal, needs to have less than 0.3 percent THC. However, this doesn’t apply to all states. It is important to research the state laws before flying in with CBD and make sure your CBD products are devoid of as much THC as possible.

If you are travelling outside the country, it is important to note that rules are very different from the rules within the country. For example, CBD is illegal in a few European countries including Iceland, Montenegro, and Monaco and in Asia, countries like Vietnam and Cambodia have illegalized the substance within their borders. In the Middle East and Africa, most countries have suspended all cannabis related products which include CBD. In Nigeria, Marijuana and other CBD products are still illegal as clear distinction between the two doesn’t exist yet.

If you are travelling within the country, you can fly with CBD products that contain less than 0.3 percent of THC.

That means, yes you can fly with CBD. Also, yes, traveling with CBD is possible.

However, TSA rules also applies which includes that any liquids which includes oils, creams and tinctures must be less than 3 ounces. A CBD vape pen is also admissible through airport security in your carry-on, but not in check-in baggage.

Best Moves:

Overall, the best way to handle travelling with CBD is to ensure you thoroughly research your destination to check if they are okay with CBD being within their borders. You should also make sure you properly understand the products in your possession and whether or not they contain any THC, or it is purely CBD.

CBD Products You Can Use While Traveling

  1. CBD Topicals:

Topical CBD products provide local effects, as opposed to CBD products for internal use, which affect the whole body. They allow users to benefit from CBD without having to ingest or vaporize any substances. And the benefits are considerable, no matter if the product used is CBD topical oil, lotion, cream, or salve.

  1. CBD Edibles:

CBD edibles are an incredibly convenient, discrete, and healthy way to enjoy CBD without the hassle of sprays or extracts. And what’s more, they taste great! That’s because CBD can be used to make CBD edibles out of almost anything. Whether it’s bake goods, tasty snacks or a sugary indulgence, many recipes are better with CBD-infused ingredients. When buying CBD edibles from a trusted vendor, these products can be great for travel.
