A Game Changer: What the 2018 Farm Bill Means For CBD

There’s big news in the hemp world: the 2018 Farm Bill, which Congress recently passed, would make the growth of industrial hemp legal in the United States once again. That means the components found in hemp, including CBD, would also be considered completely legal. CBD has become hugely popular in the last year, but it has existed in a sort of legal gray-area. Now, the gray is gone, and CBD is good to go.

New Opportunities

The newfound legality of CBD (as well as the other components found in hemp) is a very good thing for people interested in its potential benefits. While studies on CBD have been limited until now, with the new Farm Bill, it should be much easier for research on CBD to take place. The benefits of CBD, which many people have touted, can now be proven true through scientific studies. Finally, it will be possible to collect quantitative data on the efficacy of CBD. From pain and stress relief to anti-inflammation, scientists will finally be able to say with certainty just what CBD is capable of. For the CBD industry, it’s a game changer.

CBD Is Here To Stay

For people who use CBD, it’s like Christmas came early. With Trump signing the bill just hours ago, there’s a lot to celebrate. Those who use CBD will no longer have to worry about the availability of a product they may have come to rely on. For farmers interested in growing hemp, the door has been blown wide open: it’s truly a whole new world of CBD possibilities.

Final Thoughts

For a long time, industrial hemp was a scheduled substance just like marijuana. Lawmakers in our country, including the former Attorney General Jeff Sessions, have spoken out strongly against marijuana for a long time. The passing of this Farm Bill marks a huge ‘win’ for activists who have been working towards more lenient hemp & marijuana laws.

So, what can you expect now that the 2018 Farm Bill has been signed into law?

  • Look out for studies on CBD. Now that restrictions on CBD research have been lifted, expect to see a lot of new information come out on how CBD works, and what it can do.
  • Look out for new CBD products to become available. As more studies happen, we’ll learn better & more efficient ways of taking CBD- and companies are sure to capitalize on this info with new products.
